To suggest that economic deprivation is the root cause of terrorism ignores the raison d'être of the terrorist. This is a historic imperialist conceit: to assume that the terrorist, the revolutionary, the republican, do not have a rational ideology and that they might not have a point.

The reason for Islamic radicalisation is Western more…

Yes, I agree on the point that the rich nations have to help the poor countries build their infrastructural capacities on a sustained basis. But we can't expect the terrorist generals to do anything good, can we?. They are madly obsessed with evil ideology and inhumane methods.

To take the discussion to a sensitive level, no one can d more…

The methods that terrorists use create havoc have changed and adapted rapidly to exploit and make use of different sections of the world community. Therfore the response to terrorism must adapt too. Building bigger walls and having bigger guns is a very short term an unsustainable solution. We need to try and halt the desire of people from believ more…

Yes that is a what do . The question is how. Richer nations with access to resources and technology must be prepared to support poorer countries.. not by throwing cash at them.. but by building infrastructure. On the other hand the recipients must resist the temptation to divert such efforts into Swiss bank accounts. However jocaster has a poin more…

    Dear Ms. Jocaster,
It's not a question of who instigates but who get instigated. In that sense, poor and deprived are vulnerable targets for the rich and powerful men. As long us we keep a section of the population poor they would be brainwashed and made to work for few pennies which they badly need. It's difficult to locate and destroy the i more…

I would just like to remark that the main instigators of terrorism are not poor.
Most are very rich old men who are happy to stir up the young people and send them out to die and kill.
Much like Governments and Generals have always done, but without the distinction of a uniform. more…

Thanks Mr.Derek. I really appreciate your point on extending the EU idea of mutual participation to the Islamic nations to let them achieve a better social standards. I think the inclusive approach will get better results than sanctions and deprival. I have been compiling a book on 'The Economic aspects of Terrorism'. Expecting your inputs on this more…

This was a good read and very thoughtful. Poor people are obvious targets for terrorist recruitment. However the poor in say inner London are not poor in the same sense as poor in more deprived parts of the world. Furthermore there are also "non Muslim" poor too. It is not just a religious thing. There are Asian "islands" all over the UK that more…
